Context & Challenge
Gameplay enhancement that deepens engagement
I designed an additional “Challenge Mode” that introduces dynamic tasks players must complete during the game. The new feature increases replay value, encourages creative thinking, and gives players meaningful goals beyond winning or losing.

This project is a concept redesign based on an existing game and created strictly for practice purposes.
Progress as a journey
Leaderboard positions are translated into physical movement across the map, making progress feel more tangible and rewarding.
Clear hierarchy of players
Each player is represented by a character card with rank, streak, and name for quick recognition.
Reward-driven motivation
Best rank remains locked, giving players a constant goal and measurable achievement to climb.
Concept
Challenge Mode - Limited-time competitive event
Players compete against 10 opponents for in-game currency. The goal is to build the longest win streak possible. Losing ends the streak, but the player’s highest leaderboard position remains locked.

Treasure Map Adventure
A playful pirate journey where players progress across islands. Turns ranking into an exploratory experience and increases excitement and immersion.

A visual progress comparison using vertical coin stacks. Helps players instantly understand their standing based on height differences.

A clear and familiar structure that presents players, scores, and streaks in an easy-to-scan format. Prioritizes readability and quick reference.
Leaderboard Concepts
To determine the most engaging visual direction, I explored three different leaderboard concepts that balance clarity, competitiveness, and playfulness.






Art Direction Exploration
To bring the Treasure Map concept to life, I explored multiple visual directions using AI-generated environment designs. The goal was to find a style that balanced clarity, playful energy, and the adventurous pirate theme.
After reviewing several map variations, I selected the direction that best supported gameplay readability while still creating a sense of progression and excitement.

Design System & Visual Language
To support the pirate-adventure theme, I created a playful and energetic visual system.
The goal was to evoke excitement, treasure-hunt mystery, and a sense of achievement.

A dedicated action button encourages immediate re-entry into the challenge.
Rewards
Treasure chest and coin rewards increase as players reach higher islands.

Players climb the map as they win matches, showing clear ranking and progression.
